We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, play games, or contact us for support.
We use the information we collect to:
Creating an AlfaZulu account does not subscribe you to marketing email. If you actively select the optional email-updates checkbox, we record the choice, consent version, source, and time so we can send occasional flight briefings, new challenges, and product news. You can withdraw or restore that choice at any time in Settings & privacy, or use the unsubscribe link in an email. Withdrawal does not affect your account or gameplay and stops future marketing messages after the request is processed.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties without your consent, except as described in this policy.
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
Account creation and saved gameplay records support your account, progress, results, and other game features. We also summarize those existing records in internal reports about account creation, recorded play, and returning players. These reports do not depend on your optional usage-analytics choice and do not send the underlying service records to Google Analytics. The underlying account and gameplay records can identify your account; describing a report as aggregate does not make those source records anonymous.
Separately, optional usage analytics records product events such as screens viewed, session duration, authentication method outcomes, game mode, attempt count, and whether a puzzle was completed. We use these events to understand where players encounter friction and to improve AlfaZulu.
Analytics events do not include passwords, typed airport searches, individual guesses, or a raw device hardware identifier. In our own event records, the random app installation identifier is converted to a one-way hash. Firebase Analytics also uses an app-instance identifier. These identifiers are pseudonymous, not anonymous: they allow activity from an installation to be connected over time. When you are signed in, events may also be associated with your AlfaZulu account so progress and product behavior can be understood across sessions.
Playing without an account does not by itself make optional analytics anonymous. Accepting our Terms of Service does not replace an analytics or advertising consent choice.
Basic play statistics helps us improve the game using daily totals of measured app launches, modes tried, first attempts, completions, practice, and guest sessions reaching sign-in. We count each stage once per mode during an app launch. These counts are sessions, not unique people or verified downloads. We record only the day, iOS or Android, mode, stage, and whether measurement began as a guest or signed-in session. Our collector immediately adds these to daily counters; it does not store an individual event history, account or installation identifier, search text, voice recording, advertising identifier, campaign tag, or IP address in the statistics database.
Basic statistics is separate from Google Firebase Analytics and is not joined to accounts, detailed analytics, advertising, or marketing. We maintain these statistics as aggregate data and do not attempt to identify the people behind them. Our hosting infrastructure necessarily receives network information to serve requests; operational and security logs are separate from these counters. A coarse country signal is used only to select the privacy rule and is not stored in the statistics. No precise device location is requested.
Before basic collection starts, the app shows a notice and a choice. Basic statistics defaults on in supported regions and otherwise requires an explicit choice to allow it; an unknown region defaults off. Existing explicit analytics refusals also keep basic statistics off until you change this choice. You can stop future basic collection at any time in Settings & privacy. Aggregate totals already received cannot be linked back to you for individual deletion. The separate optional detailed-analytics choice below remains unchanged.
Our iOS and Android apps use Google AdMob to display advertising at limited, non-gameplay moments. Depending on your location and choices, Google and its partners may process device identifiers, approximate location, app activity, and ad interactions to select, deliver, measure, and prevent fraud in ads.
Where required, AlfaZulu presents Google's consent form before requesting ads. You can revisit available advertising privacy choices from the Pilot screen. Learn more in Google's Advertising Policies.
The website uses your analytics cookie choice. Mobile releases with the Usage analytics control ask before enabling optional analytics; you can change that choice in Settings & privacy. Older mobile versions may not have this control. Optional analytics can include a random installation identifier, installation time, game activity, and campaign tags supplied by Google Play. We use Google Firebase Analytics and our own event records to understand discovery and gameplay. Signed-in activity may be associated with your account. Acquisition measurement does not read advertising IDs, contacts, or your precise device location. Advertising consent is managed separately. Turning off usage analytics stops future optional collection and clears unsent acquisition events; it does not delete previously received records or the game/account data needed to provide the service. Contact us to request deletion.
If you volunteer for an Android closed test, we use the Google account email you provide only to grant Google Play test access, send essential testing instructions, and record your self-reported installation status. Optional device details help us understand device coverage. We do not add beta applicants to a general marketing list. We mark this intake data for removal after the launch testing window and retain it for no longer than 90 days unless it is needed to resolve a testing or security issue.
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

You can permanently delete your account and associated game data inside the mobile app from Logbook > Account controls, or follow our account deletion guide.
If you allow advertising cookies, Avgeek Checkride can load Meta Pixel to measure completed timed challenges and improve our Facebook and Instagram advertising. Meta may receive your IP address, browser information, advertising cookies/click identifiers, the challenge page URL and referrer, and a random event identifier used to avoid duplicate reporting. We do not send Meta your email, account identifier, individual answers, score or private result link. This is advertising measurement, not anonymous usage analytics. Practice and labelled QA runs are excluded. We do not enable automatic advanced matching or server-side Conversions API for this pilot. Blocking advertising may reduce campaign reporting coverage but does not prevent play.
You can withdraw advertising consent below to stop future optional events. This does not erase data already received by Meta. Learn more in Meta's privacy policy.
We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience, analyze usage, provide personalized content or advertising where permitted. You can control web cookie preferences through your browser settings and available mobile advertising choices from the Pilot screen.
Necessary browser storage records the current Daily puzzle identifier, attempted airport codes, hint state, and completion outcome so anonymous players cannot accidentally restart the same Daily on that browser. It expires automatically and does not contain an email address, account identifier, or advertising profile.
Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
